Finding the EGR

so me and my dad totaled his ranger and on my ranger i needed a new egr valve. so the brilliant idea came to mind to take his but i can't locate it on his truck. my ranger is '97 v6, 4.0 and his is a '99 v6, 4.0 the only difference is he has an air conditioning unit. my valve is in plain view so either its in a different spot or it got lost after the crash i can't find it. Any thoughts?!?

If you can't find it, it probably doesn't have it. Not all years have it.

The EGR valve itself rarely goes bad.

It is much more common to have a bad DPFE or solenoid than the actual valve itself.

You should post the computer code.

He probably doesn't have one. And your DPFE is most likely the problem, not the EGR valve.

EDIT: Didn't really mean to say exactly what he said above me, but oh well. xD
