Find EGR on 2.3L

I can't seem to find the EGR on my 2.3L motor. I have a 1989 Ranger, XLT, with the A4LD automatic. It has A/C, but its never worked ( I hear no new noise, or get cold air when activating it), Powersteering...

I found a drawing in some automotive repair manuals online at my local public library, and it shows the EGR right on the side of the intake right beside the IAC, and TPS. But I don't seem to have one.

Likewise, the vacuum diagram on the header panel doesn't list an EGR. I believe that this motor isn't original, but I don't think its a California emissions. Well ,honestly, I'd think a Calif. would definitely have an EGR...

So are there some motors that don't have it, despite my seeing everywhere people having to check it, etc.?

Any chance you can post a pic of the intake side and passenger side of the engine?

Most of the vehicles that I've seen have a pipe coming up from the exhaust manifold to the throttle body on the passenger side...and IIRC the EGR was on the passenger side...carbed vehicles the EGR is on the driver side...just under the carb at the end of the intake...

Because it's an auto it doesn't have EGR, I am not sure how that played out, but '89-90 auto 2.3's didn't have the EGR... If it did have the EGR system, there would be a tube from the exhaust manifold (on top of the flange where the pipe bolts up) to the side of the intake manifold just behind the IAC valve
