FINALY lifting the ranger

Yes that is true, I own a 2008 myself. And it is lower compared to 07 and under. Even the front has different torsion bar keys than 07 and under. How do you find the power with the 33's on?

i have the 5 speed manual and 3.73's
there's definetly a power drop
but it's manageable
the only time i found wishing i had lower gears is when doing some crawling
but in mud wholes , fire roads, trail riding it's still very doable

there still a decent amount of power to pass on the freeway
4.10's would be perfect for DD/weekend warrior
4.56 would be perfect for a dedicated trail truck
but 3.73's with the 5 speed manual is not that bad... still manageable

with an auto... that may be a completely different story

my uncle owns a junk yard, so i'm hoping to get an FX4 axle with 4.10's and ripping out the front gears also

Thanks for the quick reply, I have the automatic sadly. I also had the plan to find a fx4 rear axle, for the gears and I would like to have the disc breaks on the back too. But like anything else money has the project going at ummm a "steady" pace :dunno:

well you could definetly go with 265/75r16 which is basically a 32
as far as the lift goes pre key mod can be done for about 50$, shackles and block 100$, and if you wait for a sale on shocks rancho rs5000 (made for 1-2" lift) i have seen them on sale for 50$ a pop so 200$

so you could achieve the same lift for about 350$ taxes and install so like total 500$

pre-key mod is for 08 and newer trucks, in 08 torsion key's were re-indexed and the truck was lowered 1.25"/ swapping key's from 98-07 will lift it 1.25" , after i did this i cranked them about 2"

you can either do prekey mod, or get aftermarket key's which is more expensive and you have to be carefull not to overcrank with aftermarket key's

Maybe I will go this way then. Did you buy new torsion keys or just went to a junk yard? I also have 265 75 16 on my truck now, so maybe I will just keep them as I find the power is still there when I need it, so I don't want to push the limit....yet

you can get factory OEM Torsion key's from 1998-2007, they call them torsion adjusters i believe... the best route to take i believe, cheaper than afte rmarket key's theres a lot of FORD OEM sites

so, just FYI, Pro Comp ES3000 makes a shock for the newer ranger for 1-2" lift, but it's not listed on there site, or any online site, contact them directly... and there cheap too like 37$ canadian,

honestly i can't tell the difference between my es3000 in the back and the rs5000 in the front... except twice the price tag :S
