My uncle called me a while ago to ask if I wanted a 2003 Ranger (4 cyl, 5 speed, 2wd) that needed work, it was $300 and he's a mechanical genius so we went for it. $1200 later it's now running great, inspected, and my new daily! I've spent the past month or so waiting for parts for this damn thing, it's easier to track down parts for my Ranchero - Totally ridiculous! It's an ex-work truck and is completely filthy inside and out, is scratched, dented, and pretty much everything is broken on it. The headlights were held in with screws and silicone and half the lights weren't working anyway (running lights, license plate light, brake lights, one headlight, half the dash lights) I need to reupholster the upper parts of the door panels, replace the inside handles (they're are gouged to death) stitch up a cigarette hole in the seat, and melt some of the major scratches out of the plastic trim all over the place. I have to fix the "door ajar" issue and install a new dome light (previous owner's solution was tear the dome light apart) The bed is cracked on top and the side is separated from the front of the box because someone drove the ladder racks into something. The grille is busted but I got a 4x4 grille and powerdome hood, they're waiting for paint as I type. Also, in the tradition of every vehicle I've ever owned, the gas gauge doesn't work. The list is miles long but thankfully I work in a body shop doing airbrush work so I can paint in exchange for the body work :D In the meantime, I'm lucky it's silver and doesn't show even a quarter of the scratches, dings, and dents all over it (it looks awesome in these pictures, I promise it's worse in person, lol)

So far - new headlights, "new" 80's rims that I had sandblasted then painted myself, new taillights to be installed after body work, new rear bumper (also not installed yet) and I picked up a hard tonneau cover off Craigslist (black rubberized low profile) Sorry for the novel but I'm sure you guys will see me around asking dumb questions.

Looks good! But a '61' Ranchero? What are there, only 8 or 10 left, man, take care of that one. Working on a '66'.

They're still out there, just all out west! Mine came from AZ and was driven to New England circa 1970. I found it 5 minutes from my house and bought it for 300 bucks, needed a carb to get it running good. We patched the floor and now it's a somewhat daily driver. It'll remain a driver 'til I get the time/$$$ to start in on it. It's got a 170 straight 6 right now and will be getting a 200 eventually (it came with a spare engine) Glad to see another 'Chero owner!

Before it was registered, right after I got it last October... it looks exactly the same plus plates and a sticker
