Well like the title says, Im FINALLY getting a new gps and yip skippy im excited :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Ive had 2 of the tom toms and they both kept going out and getting the harddrive symbols with an X on them which meant they kept crashing and becoming corrupt and Tom Tom support center refused to fix them.
So tomorrow Ima go pick up a magellan roadmate 1424, its kinda the bare bones kind but its either this or a garmin and either one is suppose to pass the tom toms by far and besides I dont really need tons of map updates and I dont want a refurbished one which with my luck break 2 weeks after using it.

Anyways what gps yall use?

I use the GPS (Google maps) in my Droid a ton. I also have a Garmin Nuvi 5000 that I rarely use. I like that one for audio books.

As far as I'm concerned, GPS begins and ends with Garmin, in my truck, and (until early this year) in my airplane. They get it right. That the Kenwood stereo I bought had GPS by Garmin was a major reason I chose it.

+1 on the Garmin. I work for a pest control company and my average day consists of driving to up to 20 homes that I've never been to before, my Garmin Nuvi gets me there every time, I work sometimes up to 16 hours a day and it's running from the time I leave for work 'til the time I get home. Never had one break on me. I actually have a Nuvi 750 that I used for long time but the the map was two years old and I could pay $70 for a map update or $110 for a new GPS, so I just bought a Nuvi 205W. Get one of the 4.3" wide screens if you can, I like them a lot better. Bought my girlfriend one for Christmas a few years back and she loves hers, my mom also has a Nuvi and she loves it as well.

Most important thing about the Nuvi, make sure you register and update the map with Garmin.com You're eligible for a free update for a couple months after you first purchase it, if you wait after that you have to pay $70. Don't make the mistake I did with my first one.

i have a tom tom, got it for christmas. seems to take some time to find a signal when you forst turn it on but otherwise i have no complaints. my sister has one too, although shes had hers longer

I don't know where tom tom is from but Garmin has there world HQ here in Olathe, so i've always had Garmin's. good device.

i got a garmin nuvi 255w and love it. i only lost signal 3 or 4 times, the maps are pretty accurate (they have some roads that dont exist but when your mapping the entire country i see that as acceptable). plus its a wide screen which is nice, and having the speed is nice also cauz my speedo is not calabrated for my tires. the speed accuracy has always been dead on at speed traps. all and all no complaints

I have a Garmin GPSMAP60cs. It has been everywhere with me. On the trail, road, air, water, hunting, etc. I've taken it fishing to mark the best spot for bass. I've taken it off-roading on my KLX so I don't get lost. Has led the way for me on my trip to New York and back to Oklahoma. On hunting trips so I can get to my spot in the darkest of nights. Even had it working on a flight back home, clocked the CRJ at 600mph. Thou it is the older model with 56MB of memory, but I can load enough map data to cover the state of Oklahoma at least. The GPSMAP60cx is the better improved version of mine, but why should I upgrade when the this older model has proved to be realible. It is a handheld unit, color screen, options for data and ext antenna (which really picks up the Sat's nicely), and it takes 2x AA (which works for me when I use it for extended periods without a place for power).

TomTom 130 for the spouse (she liked that one...) and I use the GPS in my BlackBerry if I really need directions.

Whats a GPS?

Is that the annoying talking box that people plug into the lighter that yells at you when you miss the turn?

Garmin Nuvi 255w. I had a Garmin Street Pilot i3 for 4 yrs before that. Garmin all the way for me.

Well, officer, I will tell you what happened....I was following my GPS and it told me to turn left at the next light and we did. It said got straight for 3.3 miles and we did. It said turn left at the next intersection and we did. Then it said go back three miles and turn on to the 'Old Over The Deep Water Bridge' and we did. Darn...that bridge has been out for years...we all got wet...the kids can't be found...the dog and the cat and the two hamsters floated out when we wrecker raised the car out of the water....I hate this stupid GPS device......
