Well. Was referred here by my friend DannyG so I suppose I should say hi and see whats all around here.

I've had a Ranger in my life for quite a while. My dad bought an 83 ranger with the 2.8 and a manual 4 in it. He sold that as soon as he got my Grandpa's 99 Ranger.

I've already owned an 03 S10, but after the last gas hike I sold it and bought a car. But have been looking for a weekend pickup to do house work and for winter time fun. :D

Found a 96 Ranger for sale on local Craigslist for sale. went and checked it out and its a great deal with what looks like a little amount of work to get it to 100%. 4.0 4x4 with a 5 speed. power everything. Bed liner and NO RUST with 125k for 1500 bucks.

It starts to chug a little when you hit 65mph (in fourth and 5th gear). the previous owner had the top end rebuilt so that didn't seem to help. Guessing its the MAF or a fuel filter or something along those lines. So if you have any idea of where to start I'm all for it. Picking it up tomorrow and I'm looking forward to having a pickup again!

No idea on the running issue, tell more when you get some miles on it.

Welcome to The Ranger Station.

Well went and signed the title over today and what would you know. its actually a 1997.

Can't wait for the weekend, and hopefully some snow to go away so I can work on the MAF and check the plugs this weekend!

4.0 4x4 with a 5 speed is always a nice find! i'm jealous! lol

welcome to the station. you'll become addicted and never leave. i promise!

Welcome to TRS~

Nice truck...but I was going to say you I thought you posted it as a 99...and when I saw the pics I thought 97 because 98 was when they changed the style...then I read your post again...lol

You've got a nice clean, reliable vehicle that some people would want very much...good snag~!

So far most everyone I've talked to has been amazed I only bought it for 1500. I booked it out and its right around 4k normally from what i'm seeing... YIKES thats pretty sweet now that i look at it!

Bought some MAS cleaner and gonna try that this weekend to see if the chugging goes away. I suppose I should check the air filter while i'm in that area also! :P

Well now the only thing that i'm trying to wrap my head around and figure out is...

WHERE THE HELL DO I GET CUP HOLDERS??

I have a 60/40 bench seat with the flippy down center console. I have a 5 speed stick with the 4x4 shifter next to it.

My dads 5 speed has cup holders on either side of the shifter. Obviously thats not the case when i have the 4x4 shifter next to the 5 speed....

Is my only option to chuck the 60/40 and get buckets?? I can't believe there are no cup holders!! Driving a stick while trying to have a cup of coffee is now an interesting driving experience...

you have a manual t case too? dude. you lucked out. nice find. i would say since you have the back seats anyway, switch to buckets and get a center console. i have cup holders on the front of it

That's a super sweet find! They sell those cup holders that slip down in to the window. They also make the ones that slip between the seats (console flipped up) .... That's about all I can think of. Go to your local Schucks, or what ever, they have an array options.

Welcome to TRS!

I didn't think anything was weird about a manual Trans case until i'm looking through the forums here and then thinking about my friends Rangers.... a lot of electronic.... But this guys got the manual with hubs.

Thinking about going to the junk yard tomorrow to see if i can find me some buckets and trade them a 60/40 seat. :P

Gonna have to dig around and see how hard it is to mount the center console then... Woman is not amused there isn't cup holders... she doesn't like it when i hold out my drink and yell CUP HOLDER!! :P
