Finally bought one. 2006 FX4 Level II

it's odd that you guys found these trucks so hard to find... i test drove i think 4 of them in the month before i bought my truck...

Are the wheels polished? They seem mighty shiny compared to stock Ford Alcoas.

nope, those are stock, there are 2, there's the DSG ones, (which are color matched to ford DSG lower on the level II's and some of the 1.5's)

3" PA body lift + 33's actually lol

orly? that's what i got done to mine!

be forwarned, you WILL still hit the flares with 33's and a 3" lift, the back tires will tear the flares off, so here's what you do... go get beltech 6400 shackles, take your blocks out, turn them upside down, and put them on top of the spring, they will work as bump stops to limit the up travel, i have mine with expo leafs though, so your might sit a little lower after all of that... the belltechs add about the same lift as the blocks

that is a gorgeous truck , but i am not reall a fan of the Level II after 03-04 , i have a jet black 03 with the manual trans/transfer case setup , to me an 05 or newer Level II is just a 4x4 with different wheels and some stickers , the 03-04 is where it's at , cant wait to rebuild mine , and the 05-07 trucks came with a mirror polish alcoa as compared to the 03-04 natural finish and the 08-up DSG finish , you still have a gorgeous truck though

uh.... lol read below, but also, you're not right on your alcoa statement... they were options on certain years, my 07 has DSG, i looked at a couple 06's with DSG also, and an 08 with polished...

The 05+ level 2 is more than polished alcoas an stickers lol.

31's, 31 spline Torsen rear LS, 4.10, bilstein shocks, etc.

But all level II's are awesome.

yes, plus a dressed up interior, if you have a manual, you get a chrome shift lever, with a clear shift knob, black leather shift boot, black interior w/ silver accents, two toned black/red or black/blue seats and IIRC, a slightly different gauge cluster, the layout is the same, but it's a little different coloring or something...

plus of course the 2 toned paint, alcoas, stiffer torsion bars, as 6.2 said, torsen diff, bilsten shocks...

the rear axle on the level II's, IIRC, is the same rear axle as the gt500...

6.2, come visit me, i live in calgary, i'll show you what your truck can do! we have some wicked trails out here

Yup I was hoping for the leather interior but I'm happy with the red/black!
Once the snow melts I'll flex this thing out and see what it can do.

You got any pics of your 33's?

What back spacing do you have on the wheels? I know a lot of people with 33's and a 3" lift that don't rub

it's not the backspacing that is the issue, it's the diameter... typically the backspacing is an issue on the front... i forget what mine is... and yeah, i've got lots... click the build thread link in my sig

Will do. But yeah I haven't heard if anyone having clearance issues with 33's and 3" body lift.

trust me, if you do any flexing, you will see what i'm talking about this is the day i got it all put together, after the lift and the tires...

yeah, i know, poser shot... but i really wanted to flex out and there's nothing near by other than a parking lot with a pile of traction sand from the winter

here's the tire hitting the flare, and it's not flexed out to the complete limit, still about an inch from the bump stops...

a theory i have, most people with newer trucks (notice i said MOST, not all) who build them up don't use them, so as a result, when someone actually does, and has results like this, it ends with abnormal results

or my truck is a redheaded stepchild

Hmm. Interesting! What lift do you have? How wide are those? Looks good btw.

First idea I had was to do the hood bulge and grille in that grey color!! Since then I've seen 3 rangers like that! Kinda don't wanna do it now haha.

i've been on the ranger forums for 3 years now, i think, and i've only seen 1 other truck with the grey painted like this, and i'm not even 100% sure it's painted, i have seen a few with vinyl on it, which looks like crap IMO... and fwiw, i don't think there's another member on this forum that has it painted like that...

also though, when i joined, there was virtually no one else with the newer gen ranger also...they have become a little more common in the past 2 years

the lift is the performance accessories one, for the 98-2000 model, it's cheaper than the 01-05 kit, and is virtually identicle, with only the fuel filler tube being different, and the 98-00 kit not having the ebrake bracket (which i didn't need anyways)

i forget the part numbers pa988 and pa70033 i think? respectively...

tires are 33x12.5x15 bfg km2's on 15x10 us wheel steel rims

Ok cool. And yup you got those part #'s right.

I'll be running 33x12.50 toyo open country MT's and 15x8 Mickey Thompson classic lock wheels. Shoul look pretty decent I think.

just curious, but why did you decide to go with 15x8?
