i have a 1994 2.3l ranger that i have put a turbo on. i baught a oil feed kit that bolts onto my oil filter spot and oil filter bolts to those. is that a good way to suply oil or no? i had to cut a small portion of my core support for intercooler pipes, is that going to make anything dangerously weak or anything? i am trying to get past problems i may run into in the future. any tips?

How exactly did you route it? I'm a bit confused.

You dont want too much oil being fed to the turbo, or it'll just blow past the seals.

It depends on if it’s a journal/thrust bearing chra or a dual ball bearing rotating assembly. Ball bearing assemblies require less oil pressure and therefore reduce the chance of seal leakage. What kind of "50 trim" are you running? If you bought it from a reputable vendor, they should be able to provide you with the pressure specs...

idk who the person baught it off of but it was a guy i knew in florida and he had it for his car but sold it to me. its garret turbo. i will check the booklet that came with the kit maybe it has something about psi in there.

and last., can the oil RETURN line be sent into the dip stick tube if i drill a small hole into the bottom of it. that was something reccomended by another guy with turbo ranger to me and my brother. and which do you think is going to be faster. my brother has built a 1996 2.3l and just put a murker turbo on his. mine is 1994 with other minor upgrades with garret .50 with greddy frontmount and fuel pressure regulator. hes at 10 psi im at 14psi. faster?

The oil dipstick is on the opposite of where the turbo is best located (exhaust side). You can't drill a hole in the tube to use as it is much too small. Your turbo drain line is gravity fed, not pressurized. Which means that it must run downhill and not have any obstructions. You will need at least a 1/2"ID line. You might want to read through the turbo section in tech library on the main page. There are some articles that cover the basics of turbo swaps.

boost is just a measure of resriction. For example a ported and cammed 2.3L with 10psi would probally make more power than a stock 2.3L at 15 psi. Also it comes down to turbocharger sizing, the plumbing flow, tuning, and so on.
Just tap you pan for a fitting.

so i can just run oil out straight down into the side of the oil pan?

What type of line (material & size) do you recommend for running oil from the sending unit to the turbo?
Mine 2.3T is out of a Merkur and I've seemed to have lost this line.

For the exhaust there are 2 schools of thought. If your going for all out performance, 3" is the way to go. If you want dependability combined with reasonable performance,
21/2" will work.
My truck is an '84 4X4. The engine is out of an '88 TC. I used the stock (21/4") down pipe into a 21/2"cat into a 21/2" bullet style glasspack and 21/2" out the back. works fine for me. I find it hard to stay out of boost.

i beleive he means oil lines. i used oil lines that came with my kit and they are steel braided

Look on Ebay for #4 feed line. If you are going to use a stock location turbo mount you can just get a 36" line. I used #6 line on mine because I had it laying around the shop not because it was better.

yes i beleive mine is #4 that came with my kit. so i should be fine with it.
