fender Flares

I'm not sure if this is the right topic to post this under but, I was thinking of making some fender flares and my buddy was saying it's pretty easy. I guess you would just use some sheet metal and bend it to fit in the fender well and on top of that he said to buy some heat molding plastic and use a propane torch to mold it onto the sheet metal and then rivit it onto the vehicle. I've never attempted this before so I was wondering if anyone has done it or has any ideas that will help?

you only need to make one thread. you can get that black garden edge and use that too i have seen that alot and they just bend if you hit them into a tree or something
