i'm trying to figure out a way to mount my stock fender flares an easier way than those stupid plastic tabs. what are some other ways people have mounted them. i know one guy riveted them but i think it looks a little redneck

i personally think the rivets look way better than stock. redneck would be using duck tape to hold them on.

I sold a set from my 93 that I once owned to a co worker with a 98 & he attached them with 3m automotive double back tape onlong the outer edge & just the mounting screws under the lip of the fenders. Has been on his truck for over a year with out any issues & he washes his truck 3-4 times a month.

I was thinking of either putting new bolts in the original plastic clips.... or....
Doing something like what your friend did. But instead of 3m tape just use silicone. But the tape is a good idea too. Its probably easiest then trying to fumble with the mounts

i put some on my 2wd and i just lined them up drilled holes under the lip and used washers and sheet metal screws to secure them and it works great

do the tops flop around at all? or do they stay in place like factory. because if i can avoid screwing from the outside i will. but i was going to use something like decorative chrome/stainless allen heads

no they dont flap around at all if you just have someone hold them up tight and you drill the holes then when you screw them in they will look just fine i love the look of them

Cool. Thanks for the tip. If they do flap I can always use 3m tape

yea funny story about when i first installed them i found them on c-list for like 40 bucks so i got them and painted them black then just took 3m tape and slapped them on the truck. as i was on the freeway i heard this whack sound i was like what the hell and my buddy was in the truck to and he was like what was that so i pulled off the freeway and the front drivers side flare had blown off i was like crap where am i gonna find another one well i found one at a junk yard but needless to say i learned my lesson haha

well what i meant was if they flap with the self tappers i can always add 3m tape at the top to help out

my coworker;s flares are still attached & he used screws under the wheel well lip & 3m BRAND automotive double back tape ,NOT just any hardware store double back tape. Most trim, logo's & emblems now a days are held on that way.

yeah. some people hold their lund visors on with that stuff. its incredible.
