I disconnected the battery in my 1994 Ford Ranger to replaced the thermostat. Now the truck idels fast. I did not work around the vacuum hoses, but I checked them and did not find a hose off or loose. I can travel down the street at 45 mph and not put mu foot on the gas pedal. What should I look for to fix the fast idle?

I don't know if this is a 4.0 or what but this happened to me the other day. When you changed the t housing did you make sure the wires and fuel lines were back down and not touching the throttle linkage.Between the front of the upper intake and the back of the thermostat housing is pretty tight and there is quite a bit of wiring and a fuel hose in there.I was looking all over for a vacuum leak and found the fuel hose holding the plate up underneath.
