here is a little taste of what I have spent over 15 hours on during the last 24 hrs..... been taking every logo and changing it to four color options... this is the top view match to one of the 3 side options we have... wait to you see the side, amazing how close it looks.. but i got to get rest tonight, so i can make it to the swapmeet in 10 hours, the final decision will come down to me...but I am giving my sponsors a big say in which ones they like or do not like their logos done a certain way..... Team FAST also just picked up a 30ft trailer, so got a nice team vehicle set up now

the team fast logo is even cooler but i want to go over the three choices with the team first cause it will be embroidered on hats, jackets, and beanies

our new t-shirt and sweater design should be completed this weekend and will be available to the public

Back in AZ, had a few packages waiting for me, Icom blessed us with another mobile radio, its the F121 i think its identical to the 5021 just a previous model. Will be visitin PCI this week to get this one program and get the cable for my intercom to radio.

transmission components from JuanCo to mocked up and get new motor in and transmission mounted, so its ready for the new one next week.

here was the start of the motor swap last weekend

as you can see this motor is taller than the old motor that we dropped, the stock intake was right were the cross brace goes...



our solution, which we only did in case we ever wanted to use the stock intake manifold

FAST Fabriction wil be designing and fabricating a custom aluminum intake manifold that lets the air go directly into the heads, instead of to the back of motor and then forward and down into the heads. Should gain horsepower but that was not our goal, we will do a dyno with the stock and with this one and offer it to the public after we have had a few races on it. Basically we will replace these pieces, with the idol control being remounted on the new piece and the important lines

So to drop the motor pass what we already had dropped the first motor with our mounts, we had to make some room on the crossbrace, and bang in a bump in the firewall, we went down another 1" plus and about 3/4" more back. Overall from the original OHV location I would ay we are somewhere between 2.5-3" down (bigger pan on the sohc so hard to be sure) and went back probably between 3-4", the c4 transmission has dropped an 1.5" from where the stock 4.0 was after we had lowered that motor.

decided to take advantage of motor being out, instead of trying to shape and close those huge holes on top of the firewall, we cut it out, going to cut the inner piece out after looking at the damage to if from before, will replace with a 18 gauge piece with a rosette plug flange that has a 90 and goes straight down to the firewall.

that was last sat and sunday.... today we completed the motor mounts and check all our clearances, and will knock out out transmission mount that will have a drop out center for easy removal as well as hold the dual exhaust

originally we had this barely away from that flange and still had plenty of room everywhere else, but we decided to bring the motor forward an 1/8 and settled here

we also knocked out the remaining engine braces, going to mount skid plate first tomorrow, now that we can put the bumper back on, should go fairly quick one tube is already done

just placed an order for FAST Fabrication hats, flexfit with two embroidered designs, the t-shirt design is nearly complete, and that is how i spent my 27th bday



going to stay home in oc next weekend cost to much to work on it for two days, spring break is the following week, will get 8 full days of work and will be able to finish all the fab work )as long as I get the new dash by then) so we can start on running all our plumbing and electriical lines

we got the 3 piece tranny crossmember and exhaust port all tacked up, and has since been welded, waiting for new trans before making plate with bushing...

we also completed the bumper and the tube connectors worked even with just one per tube, they put tranny fluid or something similar in them...I forgot to take a picture before we took it apart to fully weld it, will get those up in two weeks during spring break when we knock out the rest of fab as long as we get the three things from outsiders...if all goes well we will be on schedule to be completely done in May

Well spring break didn’t start how I wanted to, didn’t get the trans or the dash. On Saturday I was alone, dad was still in parker working on a job, I decided to build a bender cart from ground up by myself (design, cut, and welded it myself) not bad for a crippled lol… The casters I bought I cant use two of them, because I need two locking wheels. So going to mount those and the clamp next time when I come back with the other wheels and ram.

On Sunday we got a few hours of work in, got the bumper back on. Finished some welding on the front, finished the skid plate, and mounted the power steering resivoir and took the stock pump mount cut it down quite a bit and was able to put the new tc pump in the exact same position. Just need to get the serpentine pulley and then a stock belt without ac should work. We built the tabs for the P.S. cooler to but waiting to mount until after radiator done, to make sure lines and hoses don’t get interfered with. The tranny mounts got welded, for his second time doing metal tigging not bad, his aluminum welds are much nicer. He is on his third bottle in his tig machine.

On Monday we started the radiator mount, got the top tube in (building the top plate it connects to today), we completed our bottom fixed mounts. We built it all from scratch just used the rubber from kartek (the top one is like 3/8 to skinny, terrible design or mold). We tried using a torch and bending the bottom ones but did not like the way the radius affected the way the rubber sat on the mount so we welded the sides. Doing it all with grinder and cut off wheels, and clamps and hammer for bending lol. We rarely use our plasma cutter, trying to get a table for it. We should complete the radiator today and maybe the engine cooler mount as well.

Yesterday we finished the top radiator mount had a slight modification

Air intake mounted, just need the straps, they were sold out when I went to kartek on friday

Got the NEW older model water pump installed

Installed the engine oil filters, had to ditch the racing filters for smaller ones to fit behind the skid plate, but its below the motor so the stock pump in the pan should be good enough

Today we started on the hood, mounting the clip and qtr fenders, very happy with the design. Less than 10 seconds to dismount, no hood pins to line up, very rigid design

For front just have to get steering ram make tabs, mount overflow tank when it shows up, fab new firewall and install throttle cable and computer

Here are the pictures from yesterday, we jump to the back since only thing left we could do in the front was firewall.

Mounted the blue light I got from swap meet, its huge, but we mounted it so it can easily be put on for 1450 races with a quick disconnect wire, looks like a cartoon character with a blue round ear

Got the antenna mount and gps mount done

Completed the fuel filler neck, went with a simple design, you don’t have to go over the fender and nice straight flow as well as it should work just fine when the spares get moved.

Next we tackled the rear skid plate 1/8 6061 we needed 23 degrees, we do not have a break just a little one for sheet metal. We got it cut to length and first used our back-bending technique and got to 12 degrees

Then we decided to mount it to some saw horses with plate and concrete back board, heated it up and we were getting a few degrees but the back was lifting. Had my brother come out to hold it down, and he couldn’t so he decides to get on it, this is the end result on the next bend attempt

Went back to our original back-bending technique and we are nearly there, after messing with that we decided to get the shop all organized and undercoat the back of the fenders

Today we are pulling the coilovers and scrubbing the truck for the first time, and dads rule is… if bedsides hit we are doing the spare relocation now instead of shaving bedside. I have wanted them on the sides standing up from beginning, original builder said wouldn’t fit, so we put them in the middle instead of his flat design. After we redid the rear suspension and got everything setup correctly and bedsides mounted to cover the rearend, we learned they would of fit just fine. So it has always been a plan to eventually move them over there, especially with how hard it is to get a tire up on that top one with just one person. After finishing the skid plate and doing that, we are going to lay out all the plumbing so I can figure out which fittings I still need and hoses for intake and radiator. Already $600 deep in just hose and fittings.

We got all the plumbing laid out, got quite a bit of fittings I still need and another 30ft of an8 for a total of 50ft. I figure out that my motor does not have a return line, the stock setup had a fuel pressure regulator in the tank, so I have to buy one of those $100+ regulator and run a return line back from up at the motor. Beside the return line all our lines are mostly -8, so if any motor upgrades will be good. We set it up to be real clean and few fittings to prevent leaks, should look good. On my way home no updates for a few weeks.

school ended and dad completed his remodel... both back in AZ and ready to complete this truck... we got lots of parts to install and hoping to have this truck in the dirt soon

was really hoping to have the alternator on today, but ran into a snag, the lower bolt holes were wider apart then the mount holes. I was worried I would have to weld a chunk of aluminum to side of mount and drill and tap. Decided to call powermaster to see if they had the correct one i was not aware of... Turns out i was in luck but i would not be able to get it in the thermal coat like this one had hopefully it wont take long to exchange it..... started on plumbing the radiator... top is done minus a bit of welding and putting a bung for temp sensor
