So I bought a used 08 Ranger sport (only 10K) and when this thing starts or at slow speeds, the fan noise sounds like a jet engine. The fan is always spinning. Is this normal?
I did some research online and it pointed to the fan clutch, so I tested by spinning the fan (engine off, at cold and warm), and the fan hardly spins, maybe moves only 45 degrees. From what I've read, this indicates a locked fan clutch.
So i take it in to the dealer, who tells me that this is normal, and that the fan works of air pressure passing the rad, so that at higher speeds the pressure past the rad is higher and the fan turns off. Is this true.
I'm totally confused now, how this 2008 3.0L fan is suppose to work.
Any insite?
Thanks all
