Fan Clutch question

Things seem to be running well and I don't seem to be having any overheating issues but I found that the clutch fan seems to lose resistance when its hot. Ive notice that there is some resistance when its cold but when the truck warms up it's actually easier to spin I just found that to be odd.

My experience with Ford fans is they couple when you first start up.
Then the fluid heats up and gets slipperier and it disengages pretty quickly, like before I'm out of second gear - I hear it quiet down.

Then, if the radiator gets really hot, it couples up again and spins faster. You can hear the difference. Guess it pays to know what it normally sounds like, to recognize abnormal.

Along the same lines, does anyone know when Ford started using both the mechanical fan and an electrical fan on the 2.3L? Why?

Along the same lines, does anyone know when Ford started using both the mechanical fan and an electrical fan on the 2.3L? Why?

My '08 has both electric and clutch fans and the electric fan is to help cool the condenser when I use the A/C, but not sure what year Ford started using electric fans on A/C equipped Rangers.
