hi mike here new here but been twisting a wrench 40 years
wondering if this is normal i have a 87 Ranger 2.9 88 engine E8TF-PA ECC and 89 4X4 runnin gear i live at 6000' and do most driving 6-12000' not sure if that has an effect
my truck finaly runs fine and passes smog test with flying colors at 6000' thanks to u guys and every thing i learned here !!!!!!!!!!!
here is my question i get a error code 22 says my MAP is out of range but it works perfect i tested it it puts out all the right freq and i pass smog great
but the computer still gives a koeo 22 my machanic buddy says if it passed and runs fine why are u taklking to me call me when u have a real problem !!!
not an emergency but if any one has time
No Ckeck engine light only get the code if i scan it and look for it only code i cant solve brand new MAP reads the same as the stock ford MAP ?????

How long has it been since the battery was out? It's possible it is a memory code. These old systems are kinda funny. The light only comes one when it sees the problem present, but the memory code will stay in the computer for a very long time.

It won't run right without the MAP. If you unplug that thing at idle, the engine should die.
