gimmie the skinny fellas, good buy or bad buy

2003 Ranger FX4 Level II power windows, power doors, mach stereo, automatic, tow package, bull bar, flawless interior and exterior. $10,990 Salesman claims 25 mpg on the hwy but I know that is absolutely false I expect about a 15/19 split city/hwy. Let me know what ya'll think, I test drove it and it rides good and everything works.

I got almost the same thing but 2002. Had 30,000 miles for $7,900. How many miles does it have?

Buy it or my anger shark are telling me to beat you senseless. jk about the anger sharks but they are really voices. jk

yeah I really like it. Fuel Economy is garbage though, my brother gets 20 ave with his 08 sierra z71. Oh and when I test the 4wd it kicked in as I could sorta feel and hear the hum in the front end but when I switched to disengage it took a bit (I expected that as it prolly waits for a neutral state to safely switch) but when it was switching it made a light squeal like a wet serpentine belt. Normal?

I get about 19 with my fx4 with the same options as the level two just didn't call it that in 2002... I like the level two stickers better than just fx4. I feel like I have the black sheep. lol

I'd try to get the salesman to knock of 5-600 since he lied about the mileage but it seems like a good enough deal. Any warranty? You could get mine for the same price, non fx4 but a year newer with 10k less miles. And I think that was a fair deal so this one is too.

25 mpg? :icon_rofl: Yeah right. Plan on getting 17-18 mpg (and that's mostly highway).

i get 18...just try and regap the plugs if its bad . and do oil and air filter.. i do that every 3 months and ive seen an improvement in MPG

what speed were you going when you switched the 4 wheel drive? The shift-on-the-fly isn't meant for speeds over 45.

shifted it in a school zone at 20. I don't think I can love anything that can't do better than 20 mpg. I just don't offroad enough anymore for that. Even when I did offroad in high school it was just to pull trees out of fields or haul some atvs into a field or wooded area. the 4x2 did just fine doing that although I would never go into it after rain like this...

well I now have a dilemma because I can get X-plan pricing through the university...Anyone used x-plan and know if rebates and incentives can be tacked on to it? I spotted a brand new one on the lot that I like and with financing I could afford. So new Ranger or slightly used Ranger....hmmm

BTW the truck this thread was originally about can be found at Jim Keim Ford in Columbus if anyone else is interested. It really is a fantastic truck in fantastic shape, just not economical enough for the young college punk...er is that drunk...:icon_confused: :icon_cheers:

Tell him to knock off 3K and stop BS'ing you on the MPG's, then buy it.
