I have a 1994 Mazda B3000. I failed my NOX emissions yesterday. The standard is 3.0 and my truck is at 3.30. A mechanic told my buddy to use a bottle of rubbing alcohol in an old Bronco with the same problem and it worked. If I add a bottle of rubbing alcohol to a quater tank of premium gas would that fix the problem?

i got through emissions once that way with denatured accohol in a 89 pontiac grand am quad four.don't remember the readings.don't think it will fix actual problem, that will need diagnosed.fwiw.

it should work.

i would recommend fixing the problem properly, however. NOX emission issues are usually in the EGR system...which can effect power, fuel economy, and driveability if not functioning properly.
