My 94 Ranger has 150,000+ miles and the bumpers are sure showing it. I cannot decide whether i want to paint plastic part of the bumpers black or go with the stock dark gray. What kind of paint should I use? Any sanding involved? Thanks

I would try a vinyl dye on it before painting it. paint will probably not stick well to the plastic unless you use the stuff formulated for the plastic. as for sanding, if it is chalky, take a green scotchbright pad to it and gently go over it until the chalky part is gone.

I have the same problem, I haven't done mine because I don't know how it would look black and gray seems hard to match. Post a picture up of your results if you get around to doing it.

if i painted them black i dont know how it would look with the front valances (plastic bumper pieces) unless i painted them too. im thinking of selling my lower valance and replacing it with the 4wd fog light one.

i might just go with a dark gray, easier to match and ill be "safe"

I'm picking up a fog light valance sometime next week, its a great swap vs. the stock one. They weren't just on 4x4's though, I think it was more of an STX and an option kind of thing. If I painted mine black, I would also do my grill and side inserts above the headlights. Unfortunately, my lights I already have are only 3.5" where the Ford Fog light holes are around 5" if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, I agree. Do you just take out the 2 plastic bumpers under the metal one and replace it with just the fog light valance? What kind of mounts do you use to anchor the lights to the bumper?

I think that is what I am going to do if I can get one. Can you do me a favor and post pics of your swap? Thanks
