My truck came stock with out fog lights, but all the wiring is there.

So I've been going to this scrap yard and I have all the parts to install the factory fogs, iron brackets, air dam, raido bezel, and the switch bacisally the whole nine yards. got it all for $60.00

So I got everthing all hooked up and I do not like how weak in light the fogs give off. I was wondering if anyone has factory fogs that used so sort of aftermarket lighting that kept the factory wiring and switch.

Here is my ride:

1996 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4 supercab, 4.0 v6.

thanks I really look forward to a reponse.

I installed ProComp 55's into the stock fog light iron brackets. They're awesome. Do a search to find my install thread with a few pics

I read somewhere on here or another forum that someone used these lights to replace the factory lights in 93-97 Rangers:

I'm going to try a pair after the first of the year...

Ha ha, beat me to it... :) That must have been where I read it... :D

They're fog lights... they're going to be weak... you want the driving light beam pattern.

this is what i did, i believe it would be the same concept with your 96, i drilled 2 holes down from the top of the plastic, and mounted 2 wally world lights, theyre aimed slightly below my low beams facing slightly out, so they light up deer nicely so i dont have to test the sturdyness of my brush guard. haha. But for some reason my truck came with provisions for fog lights, even a switch on the bezel, just with the plain steel bumper. i mounted the female plug higher up, put a little extra wire on the male ends i got from the junkyard, and i love them.

thanks, what I think I am going to do it go to Wally World and by a new set of fogs and mount them in the factory location and use the factory wiring.

I will post the resoluation when I am done after Christmas.

you could always just get a set of 100w h3 bulbs and put those in the fog lights you have now

Any one else use diffrent lights. my truck has the brackets but no housings wondering if any of the factory explorer lights will match up or not.

You can buy fog lights from wally world or any major auto parts store but they will be 4" lights and won't fill the valance holes very well. Thats what led me to the ProComp 55's, they're 5" and fit perfectly in the fog light valance with minor modification of the lamp bases.

bought the procomp 55's today got them from a guy who replaced them with kc's for $20 bucks. got to look under the truck and see were the factory wiring comes in and try and hook em up.

work great and fit perfictly even the factory wiring was easy. glade i found your post.

Throw some HID's in there if they're not bright enough. Lol. I've done that a lot for customers, they run cooler and use less power too

My truck came stock with out Peimar led, but all the wiring is there.

In my opinion HID technology is best suited for fog..
