Is it possible to do a factory fog light install on a 2001 XLT if it didn't come with it? Is all the wiring already in place? Just order the lights and valence panel? Is there a dash/radio bezel available for 2WD with fog?

Ya the wiring is all ready there, but you will have to find a radio bezel with a foglight switch and a new valance.

i was thinking about the same thing but couldn't find the plugs behind the bumper for the fogs ? do i need to get them from a doner truck or am i just not seeing them? i allready have the dash/radio bezel

well on my 01 they are already there. they are pluged into a dumby plug just to keep thr plug from hanging down.

The plugs are on the radiator support but you will need pgtails from the plug down to the light.

^ You sure about that? The harness on my 03 plugged right into the back of the light, no pigtail per se. Maybe they're different...

I could be wrong but my 2000 has pigtails

whats left?

aside from the wiring under the hood and a switch to turn them on , is there a relay under the hood that one would need to get too that may be on the models that have fogs from the factory? or is it just throw a fuse in the fuse box hook them up and they turn on ?:icon_confused:

btw im lookin at doing this next week on my 99 xlt 4.0L so i would like to know if my year has an extra consideration from the 00 model

fog lights install

I just bought the kit from a Mazda dealer, really the same truck. It came with a valance and complete wiring kit ,a lot is over kill but every thing is new and working .It cost me $240.00, that's a lot but worth it. j.m.o. Denny

Could you please show pics? I've searched my 01 XLT top to bottom and can't find any pigtails. I have the bezel and swapped bumpers. Just need to find wiring.

Well, this thread hasn't been touched in 16 years and I don't think I've ever seen this gentleman make a post in recent years.

The plug for the lights is usually tucked in behind and slightly below the driver side headlight. The harness for the switch is often fastened behind the dash near where the switch would be.

I have the plug for the switch plugged in when I switched the bezel. Finally found a color matching bumper and swapped it today but couldn't find any plugs for the actual lights. Keep seeing threads saying to look for pigtails plugged into dummy plugs but can't find anything under my truck. I've replaced my headlight housings and don't remember seeing anything. Very frustrated now.

what engine do you have?
the 2000 factory book does not show the pigtails for a 2.5
for 3.0 & 4.0 the pigtails come out of the main harness right next to the tale-out for the wheel speed sensors.
that would be behind/below each headlight.

the instrument panel harness diagram does not have any differences between engines.

01 XLT 4.0 4x2, can you shoot some images of what I'm looking for

2000 3.0, 4.0 is the same but not labeled.
follow the wheel speed sensor cables, should find the fog lamp wires.
