There is a guy at the hardware store I frequent for work that had a ranger in the past but ending up selling it for a new truck and kept the 3 inch fabtech lift. He says he has the spindles and controls arms. The kit was for a 3.0 and mine is a 4.0, now im pretty sure it makes no difference what the engine size is when it comes to spindles and control arms but I want to make sure it will work on my 98. My other question is what else i would need for the lift, new shocks and coil springs maybe?

you said "coil springs" on a 98. IFS right?
what year and type front suspension did the kit come from?
there are differences between the coil IFS and torsion upper control arms.

Yes, I have coil springs on my 98. I'm not positive what type of suspension his ranger had. I was hoping to talk to him yesterday but it was a long day at work and they closed before I got off. I'm mainly concerned with the spindles fitting, I can always buy the control arms or fab some up. Do I need different coil springs than the stock ones I have?

don't know about the coil springs.
the difference in the control arms & spindles is the top ball joint.
coil has a smaller diameter stud, torsion has a larger stud.
of course the hole in the top of the spindle follows that AND the geometry is different. one has the lock bolt behind the stud, the other has the lock bolt in front of the stud. that moves the top of the wheel to far in, or out depending on which parts you try to match up.
talkin about factory parts.
