has anyone ever modified bed sides to have the stacks recessed in the outside of the bed?

Way back when there was a first generation Ranger on Ebay. They narrowed the bed, put dually flares on it (basically making a stepside bed without the step) and ran sidepipe style stacks up behind the cab like a Lil' Red Express truck.
