Is there any concerns or any suggestions before I go mounting this f250 Dana 44 under my 84 ranger .... I would like to keep full width with the axle and I'm not sure what leaf springs I should use under the truck I would like to have around 4-5 inches of lift maybe more I was given a set of 44 inch tsl swampers for trade on a Dana 30 out of a jeep Cherokee and I'm wanting to run them and I'm also looking for a little help on finding engine tech help to swap in a 300 inline 6 ????? :icon_confused:
 
44's on a D44 ain't gonna last long if you use it...
 
What size tire to you recomend useing ? ( max) and any idea on leaf springs ? I think I might buy a set that are on an f250 at the junk yard there not flat yet but I just have no idea what I should use for the axle
 
And is the f250 d44 any stronger than the f150 d44 ?
 
The f250 d44 is no stroner than a f150 d44. The f250 has a thicker axle tube and bigger brakes. There is no benifit from using a f250 in a Ranger instead of a F150 axle. It will actually probally hurt you. The F250 axle has dual piston calipers which require you to run alot of offset in your rim or a 16"+ rim to clear the brakes. For leafs I think you will want to use something like a Rnager or Explorer rear leaf up front. The F250 leafs will be too heavy and not flex very well if at all under the light weight Ranger. If you are considering running front leafs look through the Off Road Rangers under construction section and Extreme Suspensions sections. There are several RBV that have SAS with leafs in there. Most are running a D60 upfont but as far as setting up the leafs and brackets the idea is exactly hte same for a D60 & D44.
 
I'm running a Dana 44 from a f250 and used lift leaf springs for a jeep wagoneer. Like the post above its pretty much the same as the halftone 44, besides thicker tubes and bigger brakes. I'm running 39s right now, but that would be the Max I would go.
