F150 tranny to exploder?

I have found a 5 speed tranny out of an 89 F150 pickup. Will it fit into my 4.0 explorer??

Did some research on it and the late 80s to 91 had the m5od r1 5 speed....

Sorry Tammy, The only way it will fit is if you do a 5.0 swap...hint,hint.

The ranger uses the M5OD-R1 and R1HD. The F150 uses the M5OD-R2.

Too expensive to do a 5.0 swap, I could just buy a 5.0 exploder and install a manual tranny if I wanted to do it that way. Right now I need the V6 mileage vs. the V8. I know the 4.0 doesn't get much better gas mileage but it does somewhat. My hubby has an auto 5.0 F150 1991 and gets like 12 mpg's. I work 3-4 days a week in a town 50 miles away one way, I gotta have the 4.0 gas mileage.

I do have some ppl here and online who have the 4.0L 5 speed I was just hoping to avoid having to have it shipped....
