I need to take a 92 ford taurus on a trailer to the auto crusher and the vehicle I was gona use is unavailable. So my question is could a 97 f150 4.6 auto with 3.55 gears haul the taurus on a dual axle trailer about 50 or so miles without too much stress on the f150? My truck does have a towing package and correct wiring to the trailer aswell.
Thanx

I think it should be ok as long as the trailer and truck are equipped for/with electric brakes

I thought it would but needed to make sure. Appears it has 6600lb capacity. Should be plenty fine, car weights about 3200lb and add 1500 maybe for the trailer. The looks going down the road will be priceless, car was used in a demo derby and has since sat out in a field rotting for the past 6 years, its finally time to haul it away. :yahoo:

yeah, you're good. 4.6 auto, 3.55 gears

Lets put it this way. My dad towed a 1990 F-250 on a double axle trailer with my grandpa's Sierra 1500 which is pretty similar in specs to your truck.

You will be just fine with a Taurus.

I towed heavier with my Liberty. And 3 times as far through PA hills. It's good as long as you have the trailer brakes right.
