We got a 90 f 150 in with a straight 6 and a 5 speed and the door code said it was an M. I checked and its a mazda tranny. What would it bolt up to in a ranger? I tried to find out but it would seem to fit a few different engines one being a 302. I was thinking about a t-5 but it would have to have an adaptor to fit, if it was from a 302. Its also a 4x4 not sure what kinda of shape its in but the motor was disassembled a bit, maybe just a bad motor? What would I need to mount the tranny and tranfercase in a ranger? Thanks for any help. If I just got the tranny can I just swap tail shaft from my truck, its a 2wd?

It will bolt to nothing in a Ranger. It is an F-150 trans, and the 150 and Rangers never shared an engine, so why in the world would expect it to bolt to any Ranger engine?

GEE Thanks???

I was thinking maybe the adapter would work that you can get for a t-5. Because the only problem from what I read was there is a gap about 1/2" besides the bolt pattern. I dont really know if the tranny would be an upgrade worth 185. adapter so I ask?

The M5OD-R2 you find bhind a 4.0 L6 In an F150 will bolt directly to a 5.0 but you will need a TRUCK flywheel with the proper balance.

The advantage to the truck flywheel is that it will accept an 11" clutch
The Mazda trans was used interchangeably on the 4.9 and 5.0,
but NEVER behind the 5.8 though it would "bolt up"...

There are however profound shifter location issues using this trans in a Ranger.

the shifter is located much further forward on the R2 trans
