extractor sockets (camber pinch bolt)

IFS! OH! I KNEW THAT! :icon_rofl:

Yes, on my other cars we used to heat exhaust bolts on the flanges quite often.

I've not seen "Kroil" on the shelf at the big box stores.. I think one of my hvac suppliers has it. Although, PB blaster seems to actually work

Trouble with drilling.. is the bits.. I don't think the average person can even buy bits in big box and auto stores that really cut like the ones jobbers and industrial suppliers sell.

Dewalt bits with the step point? G A R B A G E imo

I went back and took the bolt out of the Irwin socket I.. there was no "points" at all... l. just a nearly perfect round.

Only bits that are worth a damn u have to get online or from snap on-either way they are lots of coin!

Ive read something about atf and rubbing alcohol? Maybe it was another chemical but it was atf and something and people have had great success.

It's acetone and ATF... mostly a waste of time in my experience. They don't mix well and acetone evaporates pretty fast. Better off just pouring ATF on the fastener...

On that same note, I found another similar recipe that is supposed to be really great for cleaning guns - acetone/ATF/Kerosene. Also tried that, another urban myth, doesn't clean any better than Hoppe's or other chemicals.

I usually use PB Blaster because it doesn't evaporate like Liquid Wrench and others. It is very stinky though.

I've had some success with Seafoam Deep Creep. PB Blaster does make for an effective bee spray though...

I've not tried it but the old school torch and turn guys swear by using wax. plain old paraffin on heated parts.

My got to for industrial stuff is McMaster Carr.

I have a 1/2 telescoping ratchet. Its from HF and has worked great so far Its like a built in cheater. I sheared a 1/2" bolt the other day :D

Well in the midst of all this bolt breaking talk i had myself a fun time today. Pulling a tranny on a bronco 2 and was getting the y pipe off, soaked the bolts overnight, came out and heated them with mapp gas and 3/4 squeaked free, but on one of the bolts she really gave me a hard time.. Got about half a turn on it and snap! I thought i broke it free finally only to find half the exhaust manifold ear missing haha, never done that before! Think ill be just fine if i run a nut and bolt with some wide washers on it though

I had to deal with this on my 93 last fall. I ended up just drilling them out and through bolting them. Best fix IMO...

Another trick similar to dry ice; Use a can of air for dusting off computers, turn it upside down and the propellant comes out in liquid form. As it boils off it freezes what it touches....make sure none touches you.

works great for removing skin tags. the freezing kills the tag, then it just goes away over the next couple of weeks as the frost bite heals. :shok:

hint: use very short bursts!

@alwaysFlOoReD

turning the can over, kind of reminds of what used to be "fun". Stored in my shed are jugs of refrigerant 12, 134, 22, 404, 409, 410, 507, back in the pre epa certification day, dumping liquid refrigerant, watching things freeze was kind of fun. Now it's seriously and Politically Incorrect, with heavy finesif someone gets caught doing it intentionally. Not me.... pre epa we must of dumped a hundreds of lbs of cfcs int he atomspere LOL

Not sure it they use cfcs in spray cans now.
