Well apparently a grade 8 7/16" fine thread bolt has a shear strength of 13,529.7 lbs and a tensile strength of 150,000 psi if that makes you feel any better.

I don't really know the answer to this, but i'm sure someone will.

Any reason in particular that you chose such a small joint? That's only a 3/4" threaded shank. The 2.625" JJ's use a 1.25" threaded shank and a 9/16" through bolt. Many folks seem to think the 9/16's are too small for a full-size rig, so Ballistic Fab offers a 5/8" through bolt in their flex joints.

And yes, that extra 1/16" does make a big difference.

For what it's worth, I'd look into larger joints.

the reason for the small shank is the radius arm extensions use the 3/4 shank heim joint, which i not a fan on hiems .. hence the reason i want to go to JJoints

Im thinking about drilling out the 3/4 threads in favor of something a bit bigger, but still not sure what to go with.

Why not just weld in a stud and use the bushings?

I think he already has the ones that accept the heims...but it would be easy to weld in a stud.

True enough. Truth be told, I have been wondering about the bushing style myself. they "say" they would thread on to the factory radius arm... but I'm hard pressed to put the money out for something that "should" fit.
Seeing as I'm on this topic and jacking the thread... if one was to get the extensions that use the bushings, would one use the F-150 2wd radius arm brackets??? :stirthepot:

HAHAHAHAH! I love starting things like this... gets everyone's minds going. ;missingteeth;
