extended radius arm build up

Yep, DOM refers to a process. Technically, you could have brass DOM right?

Yup. It's just the process is all.

Here is one pic crawlin, Ill try to get some more when it stops snowin.

You can see I had to drop them a little too far from the frame to account for a good caster angle, I should have built a titch more caster correction in the arms, so the bracket could be closer to the frame, but it's no biggie. :dunno:

those look real nice I will watch the caster angle...weather looks like that here too, kinda waiting on a warm weekend to get all my front end work done

home made rad arms

I just finished building a set of my own radius arms and doing a cut and turn on the beams. I used 2"x1/4" sch80 have had no prob with it, ive jumped it beat it and bashed it, and all still holds up on the alignment machine, what ever you do DO NOT grind your welds where the smaller portion of the stock arm meets your tube this will create a weak spot, also heim joints are really not needed you will get just as much travel with a stock bushing. Hmmm $12 bushing or $50 heim?

that is a nice set up. it looks like this would be good for an sas swap on my 2wd. is your frame bracket basically just a plate with three holes drilled, then anothe plate welded at 90 degrees with the hole for the bushings? very creative.

Funny how time flies.:icon_welder: I will be starting tomorrow and hope to get it rolling saturday.

There is a factory ford bracket, from 150's with the 44 TTB. Has the cupped hole for the bushing, bolts on with 4 bolts.

PN FOTZ-3B095-B and A.

heres a few pics. I think Ill do my own write up on em when theyre done.

Looks good!

Looks like you bring one more bead down onto the original stud, as it looks like theres a gap.

Remember, that original sleeve is only welded on in one spot on the stud, so I'd like to see your weld come down and tie with the stud and not just the sleeve..... But thats just me.

edit - hey! post 3,333, now I just need double it to get 6,666 :icon_hornsup:

I just dont want it (weld bead) to interfere with the way the bushing sits against the end of the stud. Ill take another look at it, if I can get away with another pass ill do it.

I didn't weld the stud itself any further on mine...

I figured if it was good enough for Ford to use it like that on 10,000,000 of these trucks (just guessing), that it should be OK. So far it's been fine (and I've landed them on rocks many dozens of times now, they got plenty of rock rash on the bottoms now :icon_twisted: )

Yeah that makes sense...

I guess it's just that anytime I have chance to beef something up with more weld, I do it! :icon_thumby:
