Hey if I extend my beams I obviously will need longer axles to go along with. . .right?

Just asking because they aren't listed on the websites with the extended beams (Camburg, Giant, etc.). . .and Camburg lists longer axles as necessary for the Toyota kits, but not for the Ranger kits.

Where can I get longer axles at? If I need new axles I might as well upgrade to the 30 spline locker that is in the TTB Upgrade tech section too?

Thanks guys!

Why not use a D44 TTB? Its already wider, substitutes for pretty much everything can be found at junkyards should you ever break something, and will be much cheaper and less work than extending the beams on a D35...

Otherwise, I would say try contacting some axle manufacturers that do custom shafts like Moser, or Dutchman (Maybe Camburg can direct you to an axle supplier). IIRC, I think they (like Autofab) may have migrated away from widened D35s for the reasons above.

That all makes sense, but I already have a spare D35 TTB front end in it's entirety. . .I'm a welder and was planning on doing the widening and trussing myself. . .

. . .if I didn't already have the D35 I would get a D44 instead for sure, but I am gonna do the D35/D44 hybrid to upgrade the outers.

yes, you will need longer axle shafts..and thats one of those extra's alot of people get to find out about. They run from as little as 400 from most shops up to 2g's+ range for camburg, but burg will only use 300m

autofab never extened the d35.Cause people would go to 35's and in johns mind that's pushing the brakes and bearings to far, and I agree with him for the most part.
but he dose extend the d44 for the fullsize trucks.

Solo will cut slug and splice axle shaft's I think they show one in this thread

If they are not in that thread, search RDC, and DR I know they are one of those two boards.....or it is a slight chance its on desertrides.com

perry mcneil will do the same thing.cutting and splicing a axle.

also there is a few companys in the RDC thred that people mention that make axle shafts also.

You might also talk to chad mcneil, hes got a guy that dose his axle shaft for the ext d35 beams. And I know he was done them with d44 kncukles out also. But chad streches the beams on the pivot side so you end up only with one custom shaft.

If your after a dezert truck, I assume so since I have seen some of your post's on RDC, I would not put a locker in the front myself.a LSD not a bad ideal but dont think I would go with a locker.

Hey CanyonCritter thanks for the very informative post!

I guess doing a lot of cut & extends you learn where to cut so you minimize the amount of extra work you create for yourself. . .one of those things I had not thought of, so you probably just saved me a lot of money there. . .greatly appreciated.

I will check out the thread you linked ASAP!

Thanks again!

Look up RJ's build on his Baby Navajo build over on the Explorerforums. He stretched the D35 beams at the pivot adding about 2" to each. He was then able to use a D44 long side TTB shaft inplace of the shorter D35 one. Worked out pretty good and he's got no custom axle shafts.

CopyKat. . .thanks for the link and the info. . .that may work out really well for me as well. . .as I don't want to go super wide with my project, and using non-custom shafts would be a BIG plus!!!
