Welds look good, you're getting good penetration. Try to make your welds on tube in a single pass for each side though...

Your design is pretty good for keeping the tubes from twisting in your 8.8. However, an additional piece will give you a bit more protection. Its a crappy pic and my 8.8 is long gone so I cant get a better pic. But, I added a forward tube and plate that mounted to the 3 bolt flange by the pinion.
