valve cover gaskets..

93 ford explorer

whats the torque specs on the bolts? or does it really matter. i figure just tighten em up and then go a quarter turn.

and another thing

driving around today its about 97 degrees out, goin up hill and had to turn the heater on and pussyfoot it so it wouldnt overheat. the radiator and lines are clear of junk and its got antifreeze in it. it generally sits on the R but this time it was on the L. previous owner said it happend to him once. i know this aint normal so wtf can i do or look at for possible fixes?
