I have a 2000 5.0 Explorer engine harness that I am working with. I would like to add approx. 16 inches to the 42 pin connector section for additional clearance. I do have several other similar harnesses to use as donors for the added wire. However they are from other model years. The majority of wires coming from the 42 pin connector look like the same size on all the harnesses I have. The donor harnesses use similar size wiring but have variations with color coding. Can I expect any issues if I decide to use some of the wiring from the donor harnesses to add the additional length?

Should be no problem, as long as the wire is in good condition.

Take a good look first, you may not need every circuit, you can save yourself some effort.

Thanks Teddy. I plan on taking my time and making sure all of the connections are secure. I just wasn't sure if it might impact proper function.

Another tip is to splice the wires at various locations, not all at the same place to avoid having a big mess of splices all together.
