Alright here's the scoop. I searched and found some answers but I need a little bit more info. I found a 1996 Explorer that has been rolled that a guy is selling for $200. Has 160K on motor and tranny. It's an automatic tranny, so that is the 5R55E correct? Or is it the 4R55E?

Either way, I'm just curious as to whether it will bolt up to my BW1354 manual t-case in my 92 Ranger with the 2.9L, A4LD. The Explorer has a push-button 4X4.

If I get the Explorer, I'm planning on swapping the motor and tranny since my A4LD is on it's way out (surprise, surprise) and the 2.9L is getting a bit tired.

This should all be pretty much a plug and play right? I know the 4.0L will bolt in, the tranny bolts up to it, and then will my t-case fit the Explorer tranny?

Thanks in advance.

Yes any RBV t case will fit the explorer tranny.
