Ive got an o2 ranger edge with the 4.o, was wandering if a tcase and transmissiin from a o1 explorer with the same motor will fit. Im sure it will just wannA be sure before I tear into em.

No, the last year the Ex had the 13-54 was '94. The V6 Ex went to the 44-05 (control trac) in 95. While the 44-05 would fit the 13-54 electronics wouldnt shift it.

As far as the trans. As long as its a 4.0l Ex and not a V8, it should be the same. (5r55e)

well, according to the tech library (above link) the 1354's went all the way to 2002. not all explorers were awd (4405) back in 1995-2002 era.
additionally, i believe the sohc engines had a single bolt difference where the bell housing mounts up from the ohv 4.0 engines. that would mean you'd need the new tranny/tc from another sohc 4.0 for the easiest swap.
again, use the tech library here on trs for more information.

95-01 4 doors -- none of the V6s of those years were AWD, they were Torque-On-Demand (auto 4x4) or 2wd. The 95-96 control trac had 2wd, 4 auto, and 4 low (vacuum disconnect front axle). 97-01 control trac had 4 auto, 4 high, 4low (Live axle). The v8s were AWD (4404) or 2WD and wont fit.

The only late model Ex to have the 13-54 was the sport and sport trac (only 01-03). For some reason ford decided to bring it back to the Explorer line for just those models and years.

The 5r55e has both bolt patterns. The OHV and the SOHC. The only difference is the top right bolt is move approx 2".

Like I said. The trans is the 5r55e, yes it will work.

The t-case is a 44-05. It will bolt in, but your electronics will not be able to shift it.

I thot the tech library said they were 1345. If its not is thete nyway to get it ot to work?

Theres no way its a 13-45. A 13-45 is from a full size, has a 31 spline input and 6 bolt pattern.

If you meant 13-54, then: The only way its a 13-54 is if its a 2 door (sport) or a Sport trac.

simply put.
'01 Explorer:
4 door v6 --- 4405 control trac
4 door v8 --- 4404 AWD
2 door v6 --- 13-54 (same as sport trac)
2 door v8 --- doesnt exist in stock form

i just checked the tech library... Yes it says that the 13-54 was available in the Ex between 95 and 00. Its wrong.

Probably, but its not worth it. The 44-05 isnt a very good tcase. It has problems with the magnesium case wearing out at the high/low shaft and destroying the internals. find a 13-54, the e-shift 13-54 isnt expensive at all. I've gotten them for free.
