Hey guys,

I have been looking around and haven't really found the answer. I am planning on doing the explorer spring lift to get a little lift on my B2, but what about the shocks? Do they need to be longer or is there enough travel on the stock ones?

Thanks!

I think there is threaded shock extenders that thread on to the shock and extends the threads for the mount with that type of lift... Haven't used this first hand..

I installed the 1st gen explorer springs on my 87 b2 and it gave me aprroxitmtely 3.5" of lift. This was six months go and as far I can tell they have plenty of length in them, even with the greatly improved flex you can achieve with them(in the rear)

that's cool, thanks for the info. Yeah I am looking forward to a little bit of lift and firmer ride. My stock springs are pretty saggy and shot.

Your stock springs must have been in really bad shape to get that much lift outta explorer springs...

Typically they only get you 1-2 inches.

Your stock shocks should be fine with that small of a change, but you could probably get something a tad longer from a wrecker while your getting the springs - really your choice.

I plan on buying new shocks, so I didn't know if I should get the ones for an Explorer or what? ones setup for a B2 with 2" lift maybe?

Thanks

rear shocks

You can go to oreillys and they (for sure ive done this) have a book showing the type of shock and differences in length so if you got a 3 inch lift you just need to find a shock to match.

oh great thanks. Yeah i was actually looking on Summit racing and you can look by amount of lift. They have Sky Jacker and SuperLift shocks.

thanks for all the info, i am on Summit ordering some parts now.

broncograveyard also sells shocks for a 1-2" lift
