Hey everyone I am new here and looking for some info and help along the way..I plan on doing the 98-00 hub swap on my Ranger..I have put 2 sets of AVM hubs on it and my truck keeps popping them off and eating them up so I don't have 4wd, and the hub assembley is in good shape on both sides..I read the info given on the tutorial but I am curious to exactly what parts I will need to do the swap, and I also heard it had to be from a 96 up explorer instead of 95 from what I read..I am going to buy new axles and hubs for a Explorer to swap on my 2000 Ranger..I guess i am asking what will I need to engage the 4wd will I need a new transfer case and will I need manual hubs for that model axle and hub assembley??I plan on doing it next week when I get time and getting all of the parts from advance..Can anyone tell me the parts list I will need to buy to git the job done right??

Thank you sir..I thot it would be a live axle but wasnt sure but wich one is more durable because I am on rough road each day to work..and the last OE hubs I had wouldnt engage becas the vaccume leak..

The live axle has less parts in it, less to fail over time; but with that setup you have a continously rotating front axle, and lose 1-2mpg because of it.

The second link I provided has a work around for failed vacuum hubs. You basically turn them into push-to-lock manual hubs, but with the option of also having the vacuum actuation still able to work if you ever feel like getting it to work again.
