explorer front diff swap

Lookin for answers... i guess my search-fu isnt up to snuff cuz i cant find anything... 2 weekends ago i got an 8.8 out of an 98 4-door and all is good...its got 4.10s which is great...i was going to get a new ring and pinion for the front but then got to thinkin.....

will the front diff from that explorer swap with my 2000 ranger?

Is Anything different about it?

It would be great to just swap diffs instead of new ring and pinion

I am pretty sure the pumpkin on a TTB is not compatable with a IFS front end.

i dont think so either but isnt an explorer torsion bars after 95? i thought i may have read that somewhere

'98 Ex and '00 Ranger stuff will swap fine (both are SLA IFS).
If your '00 has the PVH locking hubs, there will be some differences in the outer ends, though again everything can be swapped between them.

thanks...so that means just the pumpkins should swap out no problem right?....by outer ends you were meaning knuckles, axles, etc?..... correct?

Correct, the axle housing part should be the same.

Just be sure to stay clear of the 95-96 explorers as they have the CAD (center axle disconnect) integrated into the housing's passenger side tube...yours doesnt have one.

luckily i got it out of a 98 ...the same one i got my rear out of ....its gonna be 2 more weeks until i get em in the truck tho....it'll be so much better with 4.10s pushin my 33s, i cant wait
