Well after some consideration. I have decided that my 1992 rangers second auto transmission failure that the cost to repair the transmission would be greater by far then to just get another vehicle.

I went. I saw. I paid 500 on the spot.

It needs: muffler and tail pipe.

Front shocks are on their way out but not quite done.

Service to either the transfer case or shifter motor(I have 2 spares now) Since it has issues going in to 4x4 I am suspecting it just needs a motor service.

The air conditioning does not work(minor issue)

And a power steering line(not sure which one yet).

The previous owner has a receipt for 2200 dollars for a rebuilt transmission already in it.

I would have preferred another ranger over the explorer for the bed. And I dont yet know if it has a limited slip rear end or not, or what its gear ratio is yet, it has drum brakes in the rear and a 4 wheel abs system as well.

It also has almost new winters on it(crappy ones) lots of tread on them and another set of summer ones also with lots of tread. I am going to end up with something like 16 tires for this thing. I wont have to buy a set for 5 years at least LOL.

So after the A4LD in your ranger blows up twice, you get fed up with it and go buy an explorer with an A4LD?

Still, looks like a good deal man.

Yeah, I was scratching my head on the trans thing too.

NICE find. Should have it up and about for less than $1k total.

He said the trans was just rebuilt. A properly rebuilt A4LD should last 150k+ miles easily with proper maintenance.

Apparently the person I just bought this from had it for 2 years. and used it exactly twice.

For towing a boat about 10kilometers each way, so about 40kilometers in total.

He hasn't ever put gas into it. Its got 3 year old gas in it from the owner before him. And it started right away.

And yes Even though it has ANOTHER A4LD in it. It was rebuild. and even so. its STILL cheaper to put this on the road then to have the transmission serviced.
