its a second gen not sure of the year. i have a lifted 94 explorer and was wondering if i could take the 8.8 i flipped on the ex and bolt it right onto the ranger?
also would the front d35 bolt right on or would i need to shorten the driveshaft? would the shaft out the ex work beter then the ranger one?
i looked into the tech library but couldnt find anything about that please let me know how much work this will be.
thanks
dan

The spring perches will be the same distance apart, so yes the explorer 8.8 will bolt right in.

The d35 will bolt right in as well.

You will have to shorten the front shaft about an inch, or just swap the t case and front drive shaft out the ex into the ranger as well.

the 89 has push button 4wd too but i wanted to swap to a manual t case. would the 2 push button ones be a plug and play? if i got a manual one could i take the driveshaft from the manual shift truck?
the ex is auto and the ranger is a 5 speed will that matter?

You will also need to add shock mounts to the Explorer axle tubes.

the front driveshaft will NOT be an issue provided you also switch
to a 13-54 T-case in the '89.

are the two tcases plug and play as far as the shift motor?

Should be, yes (you should be able to swap motors between them as well)

BTW, you need the steering linkage from the Explorer as well, it is LONGER on the D35 than it is on your D28

yeah thanks i planned on just dropping the whole d35 with lift brackets as a unit. i just hope its not hard to get the pitman arm off.
