Hi,

I'm in the process of getting a '93 Explorer and since it isn't a candidate for fixing up and driving, I am going to take the D35 front axle out and replace my D28 on my '88 Ranger supercab. I need your opinions about whether or not it is worth the effort/time to also replace the rear axle. I was also thinking about using the Explorer leaf springs too if they are supposedly any softer.

The rear axle in the donor is the 8.8 open and I currently have a 7.5 ls, however the limited slip is probably gone by now.

Thanks

the front swap is CAKE to do .. you can reuse your calipers they bolt right up basically unbolt the rad arms an ttb beams an replace with the 35. the rear axle would be worth it 31 spline axle. wider than the stock one by 3 inches an its going to come down to the gears.. id say swap it in an not worry about it.. your also going to get bigger brakes.
the leaf springs if its a 4 door explorer will lift the ranger 1.5 to 2 inches an the ride is going to be stiffer.. but i think a stiffer ride is better anyways.
