Explorer 8.8 w/ disc brakes C-clip eliminators...

I am probably going to run the drums for a little while...atleast till winter when all the weeds die down in the junk yard....

GOOOOOOD to know! thanks man
So what your saying is that when I go obtain a discbrakes 8.8 from a exploder I should take the master cylinder as well.

According to the research I have done the disc brake vs drum brake master is the same, in Joel's (Copycat) writeup he says the one in his truck is the same as the one he pulled out of an Ex for his swap. Also I don't see a master listed in the Explorer forum's writeup parts list. I think the big deal is ABS vs non ABS, I really wish someone would pipe up and said in my non-ABS truck I used X master cylinder and it worked great.

Not sure if I attached my thread to your other thread, so here it is again.

I'm confused, and not coherent enough to take all that in right now....
Thank you for the links thought! I will try and absorb that later.

Yes/no answer pls.
When I install a (factory) discbrakes 31spline 8.8 under my 86' B2. Do I have to do anything to the mastercylinder assembly? or just make sure my brake lines are good and thats that.

if on your 7.5 you have the RABS sensor on the rear, then u can install the 8.8 w/ disc brakes with no problems at all, if it does not, u will want to grab a master from the donor explorer or pick one up cheap from a parts store...

so, if ur truck has rear ABS
NO, no modifications needed

if it doesnt
yes, needs a master setup for rear abs

and your truck since it is a 2nd gen bII then u will not need todo any modifications as all 2nd gens had RABS

so your answer is NO CHANGES NEEDED

'86 would be a first gen and almost positively non-ABS. If all 2gen BII's were ABS then I would try to get a master out of them in case they decided that a Explorer needed something a tad different than a BII.

My plan was to see how it worked with the stock one, if it didn't do much I would put a new master in... if it did too much then put a valve in it.

ur right, 86 would most likely be non abs, i beleive 87 was the first year they started to introduce them on the ranger/bII's
