i have been runing my ranger 5.0 with the stock 7.5 open diff for a couple months now and cant get anywhere with one wheel peel
aparently there is no such thing as a ranger with stock 8.8 and 4.10s in greater vancouver area
cant even find an 8.8
explorer 8.8 are dime a dozen with 4.10
i have seen people here doing explorer leaf swap for lift and rearend swaps into rangers with 31 spline upgrades but both require welding perches and shock mounts
im wondering if i take the rearend with springs and leave the perches under the axle would i not get 1" of drop with no mods nessacary
might still have to weld shock mounts?
anyone done this yet?
i can get a newer ranger rear but they want like 750
i can get explorer for 150 all day

So you want to put the Explorer axle in your truck and keep it leaf under? It would give you alot more than 1" drop, more like 3-4" depending on what springs you use and such... You would also lose quite a bit of bump travel as the frame and axle would be relatively closer...

but the stock explorer leafs are said to giv around 3" lift?
so im thinking 3" lift - 3.25" axle housing tube plus 1"perch =1.25 total drop
explorer springs are direct bolt in

my ranger is 2wd 1990

What vehicle does an 8.8 engine come out of? thats a huge motor

its a rear end
or are you saying my rearend is huge?

Explorer springs usually give about a 1-2" lift at the most... If you keep the Explorer springs you might be able to get away with 2" of drop or so... Ranger springs will definitely drop it at least 4"...

No, they don't they give 3" lift over a set of really fatigued badly sagged Ranger springs, but that isn't nearly the same thing.

compared to ranger springs that aren't completely fooked you get 1.0-1.5"
