I have a '93 2WD Supercab with the 4.0. Looking to swap in an Explorer 8.8 rear. My truck has rear wheel ABS. If I swap in a disk-braked Explorer rear, will I need to swap to a disk brake master cylinder? If so, how big of a pain is this. Also some places on here I have read that the Explorer rear is 1.5" wider, other places it says 3" wider. Which is it? My plan is to add a 3" body lift and run 31x10.50s w/ 4.10 gears. Will the wider rear cause the tires to stick out from the rear a whole lot? Just trying to get all the info I can before I dive in.

1.5" per side, 3" total. You don't need the new disc MC but some say you'll get better braking with it over your stock MC, I'd leave the original and see how you like it, you can always put it in later if you want to.

I did this swap, left the same master cylinder in it. Once you have the rear-end installed you cant even tell that it's wider. I love mine, haven't had a chance to beat it up though.

Good luck,
Trevor
