I shelled my 7.5 rear diff in my 94 ranger extended cab. so i went down to the junk yard pulled a 96 explorer 8.8 disc got the perches and the shocks all mounted properly and replaced al the old ebrake shoes and hard ware went to hook up the ebrake cable off the same explorer I took the axle out of and hooked it all up to the ranger ebrake cable and bracket. my problem is that the passenger side cable is to long wile the driver side cable is to short to even hook up much less allow the axle travel down at all. i need to get this diving asap and with the truck being a 5speed i really perfer having an ebrake.

Have you tried swaping the cables? They should be mechanical E-brakes therefore if you follow up Ebrake cable there is a disconnect zone you can unhook at on the drivers side near the front facing part of the rear wheel divit...thingy....

Just follow the cable till you see the unhook. swap and rehook them.
Or just follow the same cables and there should be a nut you can play with to tighten them up or loosen them.

And don't you dare tell anyone I'm being helpful!!!

I'm sorry, what is spawing?...
It's early and I can't think of what might be meant if it's not a real word.

I used a piece of pipe to make the long side the right length and switched out the middle cable under the cab for the explorer longer one. Search my posts to find pics.

Thank you, I'll go to my local junk yard at lunch tomorrow if I get time. I'll try that and see. If not, I'll try swaying the connection on y connection like the other members where saying.

hmm I need to figure this out too, never even messed with it when I swapped mine in. In the meantime you can put it in 4wd or 4 low and I seriously doubt it'll roll

Fyi in a parking lot I left mine in 2wd when I first got it and the truck rolled into my bosses car. So yes definitely 4wd lo.
