Hey guys. Picked up a sploder 8.8 out of a 93, and REALLY don't want to run the drum brakes on it. I was wondering if the disc brakes from a 96 on up, will bolt up the the four holes that hold on the drum setup, or if you have to buy some kind of conversion kit?

If anyone knows anything about this conversion, please enlighten me:icon_thumby: I scrolled through the tech library, but couldn't find anything on this exact topic.

Thank you very much!

Its a real easy swap.

That wasn't very nice of you....

Yup, my thoughts exactly. The drum setup that came on mine, are pretty trashed anyway. Why invest time and money in a thing of the past?? Not to mention, disc is a snap to work on:icon_cheers:

I am assuming that this doesn't work on a 28 spline 8.8, only the 31 spline?

Nope, not the 28 spline. You would have to do what the Mustang guys are doing. Usually they use the North Racecars Brackets and SN95 or Cobra rear brakes. (or modified stock brakes.)

Yeah, the 28 spline has different diameter axle tubes, and mounting platform for the brakes. I could be wrong, but don't the FX4 8.8's have disc? If that's the case, you could probably go that rout.

for what some of those kits cost, you could just go get a 31 spline from a 95 and up explorer
