Explorer 5.0 swap - Fuel ?

I've got a 98 Explorer 5.0 swap done with the exception of the fuel system. Our 99 Ranger has a returnless system, the 98 donor a return sys. We have the truck running, but need to decide the big finish.

I've searched and can't find a definitive answer.

Can I just run the return line and the fuel press reg would bleed off the pump pressure difference (45 vs 65 psi)? Or do I have to change the fuel pump?

Or do I just change to a returnless fuel rail and only have to change the rail?

|If you change to a returnless fuel rail i belive you need to have a new ECU to controll the fuel pump. There was a guy on RPS that ran a return line from the rail to the fuel pump and "T'd" it off somewhere. I belive it was the evap canister line.

the 99-01 5.0 explorer runs a returnless system on 65 psi so if you just got the fuel rail for a 99-01 it'll be simple. it's the route i'm taking on my conversion with a 97 donor. there is a little bit on it in the tech library. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/5_0_swap_in_newer_ranger.html down below the stuff about transfer cases
