Explorer 4.0 to Ranger

Hi guys, will a 1992 4x4 explorer with a 4.0 motor be the same as my 1996 ranger 2x4 with a 4.0, I need a new motor and found a explorer with a good engine. Will this work in my truck and what else will I have to change over?

yes it will.. i Did it exactly with a 92 explorer and a 96. except i swapped it into a 4 cylinder truck.. the block as all the casting holes you will need. pretty much from the lower intake down you can use it . you have to change your fuel injectors and your upper intake,
