Might be getting the motor an trans from my brother's 98 expedition. It suffered a fire in the passenger seat, and not worth fixing.

I was thinking of stuffing the motor in my buggy. I have a 3.slow in it now. Would it be wort it given all the electronic stuff on it? Advice or opinions greatly acepted. Ty.

I would think it would be worth it. They make pretty good power from what I've heard. I don't think I've seen anyone do it before so it'll take a lot of fab work and ingenuity.

Anything is possible, do you have the time and skills to try and probably learn? Sounds like a lot of frustration but one hell of a payoff...

Looks like fitment shouldn't be a problem in your buggy. Not a lot of HP but gobs of torque. All the drivetrain would sure need upgrading so just have a go at it. Electronics is usually a problem the newer you go. The later Mustangs and Explorers had three CPU's

I would love to have a 5.4 in my Ranger, beautiful power band for four wheeling. The only downside is they are frickin huge. The '98 would be non-PI, my PI '02 F-150 is 260hp and 350lb-ft... pretty respectable IMO. The non-PI is a little less.

The truck in your avatar is too modified to really say what is left, usually getting the engine low enough, dodging the steering, running the exhaust outside the frame and extensively modifying (hacking) or deleting the HVAC system are the hurdles for a mod swap in a TTB truck in addition to all the other swap related issues.

And that is why I have a pushrod engine... :annoyed:

Mac, its currently running an atlas 3.8 and a 14 bolt rear and Dana 60 front. The tires are 39.5s now. Should be more than enough beef for now lol.

If the motor gets in the way of the steering that just gives me a reason to go full hydraulic.

I will have to cut some tube to get the motor out. But that's minor. I was worried about the electronic aspect of it, but it would a good summer project.

What Is a PI 5.4?

A mod motor in a rbv would be awesome.
