i was dissappointed with my thrush so i went with a not so well known brand named "wicked flow". I bought it from bear river converters. the wicked flow has a much cleaner and deeper tone than the thrush so u may want to consider that as one of your options. my friend has a flowmaster on his ranger and it kinda sounds ricey IMHO

Since this is basically the same idea/thread, I'll paste what I said in the other one...

I've had glasspacks with exits in front of the rear tire on both my 4.0 and my previous 2.9. The 2.9 didn't sound too bad, but the 4.0 sounds better since it likes lower rpms.

Glasspack, couplers, and a y pipe with two tips, ran me a total of about $45 for a whole new system from the cat back. So for the money, glasspacks are great. Just don't expect it to sound like a v8... A v6 at lower rpms can sound great though.

redneck low $$

ok here is the low buck red neck exhaust fix i did on my 06 3.0
cut off the stock pipe & muffler 12"-16" behind 2nd cat then drop the whole thing from there back, installed an autozone $20 "cherry bomb" glass pack.after manipulating the remaining pipe i found a section that would turn out between the side step and rear tire ,cut that section off the carcass, clamped it to the glass-pack and scavenged a 16" chrome tip and then had a local guy weld it up with a new hanger for $40,later i gutted the 2nd cat,she sounds sweet! total cost $60 and a couple hrs of time.:yahoo:

shane im so happy you pick my truck for an example lol. (the yellow 88)
looks different now and i changed the exhaust still used a thrush but i brought it out at 90 degrees and put a 4" resonated tip on. sounds just as loud and just as good but the resonated tip takes the raspy sound out of the higher rpms
